Light Bulbs

A classic light bulb consists of a filament that lights up and gives a beautiful and pleasant glow, hence the name light bulb. Light bulbs fit virtually all types of fixtures as long as the socket is correct.

Dimmable incandescent bulbs

The filament allows for adjusting the brightness across a very wide range, making it very versatile. All incandescent bulbs are dimmable as long as you have a dimmer connected to the lamp. A dimmable incandescent bulb gives you the freedom to fully customize the intensity to your needs. However, there are also downsides to classic incandescent bulbs. Generally, they consume much more energy compared to more modern light sources like halogen or LED. Consequently, a traditional incandescent bulb becomes relatively hot, which may not be suitable if the light source is in a place where there is a risk of touching it and getting burned.

How important is the lamp?

There are many cheap incandescent bulbs on the market today, but a cheap bulb is not always a good choice. Sometimes it may be worth spending a few extra dollars to buy high-quality incandescent bulbs online. We usually don't think much about it, focusing more on the fixture itself, such as the table lamp or window lamp holding the incandescent bulb. Whether you're looking for a light source for a ceiling lamp or a wall lamp, the light source plays a central role in the type of glow and light you will get. Of course, the shape and appearance of the lamp are important for how you will perceive the general lighting, but ultimately it is the incandescent bulbs that make the big decision on what kind of lighting you will have.

The right incandescent bulb for the right lighting

Buying the right incandescent bulb is crucial. Good bulbs are important to control the glow in the home, which is important for the overall impression and general decor in a room. A cold and white light creates a sterile hospital feeling that does not feel inviting, while the white light from an incandescent bulb is the perfect choice for reading lighting. On the other hand, a yellower glow creates a warm and cozy feeling that feels welcoming and cozy. Thus, it is the incandescent bulb that sets the tone for what function or feeling you want to achieve. Some of our largest suppliers of incandescent bulbs, Star Trading and Unison, have their own tables and descriptions that help you find the right color and strength of your bulbs depending on your needs.

Strength and base of incandescent bulbs

An E27 incandescent bulb with a large base is the most common type of incandescent bulb found in the majority of all lamps in Swedish homes. The small screw base E14 is also commonly found in especially window lamps and table lamps. Of course, there are a number of other types of bases for incandescent bulbs as well, but these two are the most common. When looking at how brightly an incandescent bulb shines, it used to be very easy to understand. However, modern LED bulbs can sometimes be harder to grasp because you can no longer rely on wattage to understand how brightly the bulb shines. Wattage is really a measure of how much energy is consumed and says nothing about the strength of the lighting you get. Therefore, more recently, lumen has been used as a fairer measure of the strength of incandescent bulbs.
